Follow along on Our Blog as we bring new life to a 19?? cottage located in the heart of downtown Blowing Rock at 846 Main Street. Known as “Opals Cottage” to locals and historians this charming cottage had fallen into disrepair and was so overgrown it was hardly noticeable from the street. On a whim and thanks to driving by an “Open House”, we purchased the home in October of 2019 and plan to meticulously restore her to her original beauty and then some! When complete, “The Little House on Main” will be rebuilt from the inside out and include 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a new bunk room, and utility/mudroom, a modern open kitchen, and a large living and dining space. New outdoor spaces will be added and the front porch will be “uncovered” to become the best seat in the house!
She sits at the entrance to Main Street, Blowing Rock- near shopping, dining, and recreation. Park your car for the weekend and walk to coffee in the morning, the park with your family or a hike around Bass Lake and Moses Cone, a lovely dinner and evening cocktails right in town and finish the day with ice cream on your porch! We hope “The Little House on Main” becomes a special part of your family’s traditions and memories in Blowing Rock.
